Home

Our “Welcome Mat” is always out.

If you do not already have a church home, please consider this a standing invitation for you to worship with us at Thrift United Methodist Church.  We would be honored to have you join us, and gladly welcome you into our fellowship.
We realize that choosing a church home is a huge decision and pray that this website will serve as some insight into Thrift UMC and how we serve Christ.
At Thrift UMC, we seek to provide an uplifting, meaningful time of worship; as well as opportunities for fellowship, prayer and outreach.  Also, don’t think that your clothes aren’t good enough to come to worship; we don’t care how you are dressed.  Come casual, if you like; most of our members do.
Thrift UMC is a traditonal church, with a strong heritage, that exercises solid biblical teaching and practical everyday application.  We are committed to Jesus Christ and what it means to be His disciple.  It is our heart’s desire to represent Christ in everything we do as we strive to lead non-Christians into a personal relationsip with Jesus.
Please prayerfully consider this invitation to join us as we worship the Lord and grow in Christian maturity.
In Christ,
Thrift United Methodist Church

Thrift UMC Welcomes New Pastor

The Reverend Charles S. DiRico was born and raised in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. He graduated from Christiansburg, VA High School, then from Virginia Tech with a degree in history in 2006. Upon graduation, Charles began preparing for a career as a history professor. However, not long after beginning the graduate work to do so, Charles received a calling into ordained ministry. So, he soon began studying at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. He earned a Master of Divinity degree there in 2014. Since then, Charles has served in unappointed roles as Huntersville United Methodist Church and Selwyn United Methodist Church, formerly Mouzon United Methodist Church in Charlotte. In July of 2018, Charles began serving as the Senior Pastor of Thrift UMC. It is his dream job/calling. Additionally, Charles serves as the director of a ministry with the homeless known as the Hope Chapel. In his spare time, Charles enjoys spending time in area coffee shops and at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. He is also an avid fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies. Charles’ personal mission is to join Christ in the work of the Great Commission of making disciples, so that the world can truly be transformed.
